Here are a few photos from our first weekend in France. "Our" house is in a tiny village surrounded by thousands of acres of corn almost ready to harvest. We also have dairy cows coming and going in front of the house several times daily. I don't have time tonight to describe all these pictures - hope they will sort of speak for themselves. We have been exploring some neighboring towns - small medieval settlements with elaborate churches in each one. The nearest is an ancient walled city called Navarrenx with lots of history and historical buildiings. We shop here in the morning for bread, croissants, fruit and cheese. I'm learning a little French but not much. For some reason, the people in the shops here don't seem to be speaking the same language I've been listening to on my French CDs from the library at home. Oh well..
Brittany and Kaaren are struggling with jet lag. I've been getting up early and prowling in the neighborhood towns and shops. This set includes a picture of Nuala's house, some street scenes next to the house and some of us exploring in Navarrenx. We enjoy the church bell across the street - it rings every hour and on the half -hour. The house is large - the old Rectory that Nuala bought some years ago on an impulse and sealed the deal over a glass of whiskey. It is about 250 years old.
I'm too tired to write more now. I'll try to upload these and more to our Flickr site linked from the pixtonfamily.com website.
love (yawn),
Dad
